Frequently Asked Questions
Don’t I know you from somewhere???
You might! My name is Scott Sevener, and I’m a pumpkin addict.
Ok, so I’m actually a writer who just also happens to enjoy pumpkin a whole lot. When I’m not blogging about the latest pumpkin delicacy to cross my palate, though, I write a weekly humor column entitled, appropriately enough, The Humor Column, and I also write about all sorts of other things that you might enjoy as well. I recently published my first book, which you should totally buy, but as for this particular site, if you just so happen to enjoy reading about pumpkins as much as I enjoy writing about them, I think we’re going to get along just fine!
What’s so great about pumpkin, anyways?!
In a word – everything!
Pumpkins are a great food that I think kind of get a raw deal in the food pyramid because they’re pretty much only in the limelight around Halloween and autumn, so we need to appreciate them to their full capacity during those short, few months that we share together each year. They’re the perfect comfort food on a chilly night, whether in the form of a warm beverage or a fresh piece of pie, but they can also brighten other meals in the form of muffins, donuts, breads and butters, soups, milkshakes, entrees, and even candy!
On top of all that, pumpkins are just fun – I mean, look at that happy guy!
What drove you to actually create a whole website about pumpkins?
It honestly just started off as something goofy that amused me. I needed something to help distract me from the stresses and general insanity that come from last-minute wedding planning and for whatever reason, a blog dedicated solely to pumpkin-based foods made me laugh and it just sort of grew from there. Aside from that, I’ve always had this strange fascination for all of the different kinds of holiday-related flavors that companies create for their products – like Hershey’s Kisses, for example – to the point where I thought it would be neat to create a website that just listed them all off, and so over time this blog has given me the opportunity to explore that concept to an extent that I really would’ve never expected!
Do you ever get sick of pumpkin after trying so many different items to review here?
Yes and no – sometimes it can become a bit tedious when I hit a streak of just one lackluster variety of pumpkin bread after another, but at the same time, with “pumpkin season” limited to such a short period of the year, I try to just push through it and keep in mind that it’s either now or next year because none of this stuff is going to be around come January!
What’s your absolute favorite pumpkin treat of all time?
Not only my favorite, but probably also the treat that helped to plant the seed of my pumpkin obsession many moons ago, these delicious (and also adorable) pumpkin cookies that my Mom always made me growing up have managed to set the bar pretty high. They definitely score some bonus points for nostalgic purposes, but they’re also just really tasty, too.
As for something that you could go out and buy in a store, though, you really can’t go wrong with HoneyBaked’s Cinnamon Pumpkin Pie. While you’re there, you should definitely pick up one of their deli sandwiches, too, which are so good that I bring them up just about every chance I get in hopes of one day scoring a sponsorship from them…
I found this amazing, new pumpkin treat that you haven’t written about yet!
Sweet – drop me a line via that Send Me Some Pumpkin Love! link at the top of the page and let me know where I can find it!
OR
Drop me a line using that same link and offer to write a guest post reviewing it yourself! Either way, thanks for the heads up!
Any chance you’d be interested in reviewing this great product or dish that my store or restaurant makes???
Absolutely – that’s really what this whole blog is all about! Feel free to contact me via the link previously mentioned … just one thing – please understand that all of the posts that appear on this site are unbiased, so you won’t be guaranteed to receive a raving review just because you gave me something for free. You’re gonna have to earn it, but if you think your new pumpkin piece is fantastic nonetheless, I’m always happy to share my opinions!
Got a question that you didn’t see answered above? I love hearing from fellow pumpkin fanatics, so please feel free to drop me a line and let me know your thoughts!
