I cannot emphasize enough that I still find it incredibly weird that I’ve taken to sushi like I once took to Chinese food so many moons ago. You can ask my wife – I think I parrot the same phrase every single time that we go out for sushi, which as of late has literally been more than once per week. I think a big part of it is simply that we found a place early on that is really, really good - if we were choosing from random sub par “sushi parlors” around our neighborhood, my guess is we wouldn’t be halfway out the door already whenever the slightest hint presents itself that one or more of us doesn’t really feel like eating at home on a given night…
I mean, seriously – look at these beautifully delicious rolls!
(In full disclaimer for the sake of our regular place, that last photo was taken somewhere we’ve never been before – it was kinda dark and their goods were ok, but not necessarily of the caliber to which we’ve quickly become accustomed…)
(Prediction: By the end of 2012, it will probably be safe to consider us “sushi snobs” by most standards recognized on the Internet today. And at the rate we’re going, I think I’ll be ok with that.)
I think it goes without saying that Cleo didn’t do so well with our plan to keep her from bounding out the door every time it got opened for trick or treaters this evening…

ONE DAY!!! We got to use that leash for exactly ONE DAY!!!
…but unfortunately, this is the best that I can do!

“Oh no!!!!!!”

“Whew – safe! That one was too close…”

“I’ll never leave you again, bone…”
So this past weekend Sara and I snuck over to Disney for an early celebration of my birthday next week. We ended up spending most of Saturday over at Typhoon Lagoon, which even though also terrifying actually ended up being quite a lot of fun, too! Sunday was spent mostly just dodging the sun, between going to the movies and browsing gift shops around the Magic Kingdom resort monorail loop, eventually wandering back into the park once the sun went down for a couple of attractions and ultimately fireworks.
Anyways, I won’t go into tremendous detail so as to save that for another post on another site (coming…soon?), but here are a handful of quick pics that I think help to characterize the weekend!

Wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon – definitely took some getting used to!

The lazy river … now that’s more my style!!!

Stayed at Port Orleans Riverside – paid for a plain, ordinary room, but got upgraded to an awesome water view!

Finally got to spend some time exploring the new LEGO store – it’s definitely nice having a little more elbow room for a change!

Didn’t actually buy one of these, but don’t they look yummy?
Apparently the bizarre puppy positions continue…

Could someone please tell Cleo that no normal dog sits like this, all sly and cocked to one side like she just sent one of the cigarette girls to fetch her smoking jacket for her???

She won’t listen to me. Just mutters something along the lines of, “Scamper along kid, you’re bothering me…” before flipping another page in her magazine while she waits for the ladies to freshen up…
Cleo’s done a lot of growing up in the last week or so.
She’s really starting to grow farther and farther away from that little puppy that we first picked up around two months ago and as Sara has been saying, she’s beginning to shape into a really nice dog. Over the last week in particular I feel like she really bonded quite a bit with us, I think, because we had some relatives in town who were knew to her, so it became increasingly clear as the weekend progressed that she was flocking to what she knew whether it was sleeping in the corner of my office or even just sticking close to one of us when everyone was all together.
She’s been friendly, but cautious with new people around her home, which all in all I think is a good thing.
Granted, she also still occasionally pees on the floor, and we’ve still got a ways to go with all of her puppy classes, but it’s kind of neat to see her personality developing as she matures and finds herself at home around us!

Of Cleo’s five brothers and sisters, only one has yet to be adopted, so the person fostering them brought the lone puppy over for a little playtime with his sister. As you can see, apparently sibling rivalries amongst puppies are pretty much the same as they are between humans…

The last one is my all-time favorite – I call it Matrix Cleo and upon first discovering this gravity-defying marvel caught on film, I’ve been forever on the lookout to catch her running up the walls or stopping bullets in mid-air when we’re not looking.
“Do not try to bend the dog bone, that’s impossible. Instead only try to realize the truth … there is no dog bone.”
Who would’ve thought that a week later not only would our beloved, little puppy not only be sleeping at night in her cage without any fuss whatsoever, but even seeking it out all by herself when she feels like taking a nap during the day?!

Somebody’s a good girl!
